A time of catching up with one of my sister-friends often includes talking about our relationship and circumstance struggles. This involves confessions of the flesh-producing lies in which we are entangled. After all, confession is good for the soul (and safe with a trusted friend who won’t judge you)!
James 5:16 (ESV) Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
After commiserating for a bit, as usual, we landed on THE Truth. In fact, a statement she made brought me face to face with Jesus!
Isaiah 30:20b (AMP) … your Teacher will not hide Himself any more, but your eyes will constantly behold your Teacher.
She proclaimed, “My self-protection (flesh) keeps the love of Christ from flowing through me!” Wait! What??? WOW! Let that sink heart deep. Stay right there and marinate in that beautiful Truth. I don’t know about you, but in my relationships and circumstances, it makes me want the love of Christ to flood through me more than my fleshly way of leaning on my own understanding to make my way straight (the very opposite of Proverbs 3:5-6!).
Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP) Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
6 In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
Because, my way, apart from total dependence on Jesus Christ, only involves love of my self-sufficiency. What do I want? The peace of Christ to rule and reign in my heart with love!
Jesus is THE Fountain of Life. Invite Him In! He wants to flow through you! That is New Covenant Living.
