As a “doer”, I’m enamored with Jesus’ “to do” list! He simply wants us to believe and live from the heart certainly not our own strength. All expressions of the heart are from love, His love. It takes the pressure off of the “I have to do” mentality. I just get to receive God’s love and express it in worship. The expression of my love for Him is a natural response. Back in the Old Covenant, The Chronicles gave great inspiration for an incredible list of responses to the love of God. What a wonderful focus for us as we enter another part of our life’s journey. What a Happy New Year that brings!
1 Chronicles 16:8-11 (ESV) “8 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!
9 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
10 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!
11 Seek the LORD and his strength; And there we have it! Give praise, proclaim His name, sing to Him, sing praise, tell of His wonderful acts, glory in His holy name, rejoice, look to the Lord and His strength, seek His face always! I want to “do” all that!”
That is a great “to do” in place of a New Year’s resolution. It’s certainly a list we can all “do” out of love for our Lord! It should keep us busy this year!
Happy 2023!
