Believing Jesus=Freedom
Believing in Who Jesus says He is, the exact representation of The Father, and believing Who He says we are, a reflection of Himself, is foundational for the Believer. Who Jesus says He is and who He says we are is not based on feelings, circumstances or relationships. Our life journey is removing the chains that bound us through our programming. Yes, being in bondage to lies and living out of them is the only thing that can impede our believing Jesus. I did not say believing IN Jesus. We all have programmed lies left over from childhood. These lies center around a core lie about God, self and others. There can be many lies that come from a core lie. For instance, if I believe that I am unacceptable, that lie can form a hub to which other lies can attach: If I perform well, then I am okay, but if I don’t…; or I can never get it right, so I won’t even try! Those lies are fed from the core lie that formed the hub. Do you see how through the weakness of our own flesh, we can grab ahold of an arrow that is shot by the enemy, or the world’s thinking and take it to be our own? How in the world do we do that?
Feelings Can Lead to Bondage
Feelings! Yes, feelings that are attached to the lie. Feelings are just that, feelings. They’re not right or wrong and have no quality to define anything; they just are. Feelings are always attached to a lie and therefore, make them “feel” real. Yes, I’m saying that chances are you are in bondage to a lie and a few feelings. Really? Is that all? Isn’t that amazing? It really astounded me when I took a good look at my stumbling blocks. I was coping, which is nothing more than self-protection, because I let a person, circumstance or job define me instead of looking at The One, The Only One, Who can properly define me, Jesus! That’s why it is important to know the three core lies (distorted view of God, self and others) that can take you down. It’s nothing more than the strategy of the enemy to render you ineffective.
Truth Sets You Free
If Jesus said:
And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
~ Luke 10:27
then, Satan’s mission against us is to twist every relationship, loving thought and God-given need (love, acceptance worth and security). He tries to keep us from living in the Truth of the New Covenant. Jesus is Enough! He has completed all work necessary to be with Him forever. It is finished! Even when it does not feel like it. All He asks us to do is BELIEVE!
Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
John 6:28-29
